Beginning Sewing 1



Want to learn to sew? Join us for a class! Beginning Sewing 1 will provide an introduction to basic sewing techniques, with a focus on quilting, including:
1. How to use your sewing machine
2. How to sew quarter inch seams
3. Practice sewing straight
4. Sewing and quilting terminology
5. Thread, needles, and pins
6. How to use a rotary cutter and ruler
7. Basic supplies needed for quilting
8. Picking out fabric and pattern for your first project, which will be a pieced pillow top - completed by the end of the 3 classes!

No prior sewing experience needed, must bring a working sewing machine (including manual, power cord and foot pedal) to class. During the first class you'll be purchasing fabric and basic supplies for the construction of your pillow.

Instructor: Cheryl Mills
Instructor Bio: Cheryl has been hand sewing since the age of 3, and began sewing on her mom?s machine at 8. As a 4-H member, she helped others learn to sew. In high school, she was a teacher?s aid to the middle school Home Ec. teacher during the sewing module. In college, she majored in Clothing/Textiles at CA State University, Fresno. Over the years, Cheryl has sewn for others, taught various sewing classes, and now focuses on quilting and machine embroidery.
